You may not make digital copies available as you may breach copyright laws by doing this. 

Making a request to upload materials to Canvas through NUS Libraries assists you with:

  • checking copyright compliance;
  • adding copyright notices; and
  • ensuring records are kept by your Department as required by the Statutory License under section 198 of the Copyright Act 

You may only upload digital copies of readings or videos yourself if you are the copyright owner of the materials, or have explicit permission from the copyright holder to copy.

Specifically, for videos, all films, regardless of streaming or from the platform, cannot be uploaded onto Canvas. If the video is taken from a platform we have subscribed to, then only the video link can be displayed. ​

The waiting time to obtain individual films or new platform subscriptions is at least 2-3 months.
