This answer is for LINC+, see this if you are using LINC to request closed stacks or place a hold on an item.

An item with the status "DUE DD/MM/YY" is currently out on loan and you can request to reserve or hold such an item. Items that are in closed stacks with the status "REQUEST ITEM" can also be requested online.

Note certain items like RBR (Reserved books/Readings) cannot be reserved.

Placing a request or hold ensures that when the item is returned or is ready for you, it will be held for you to pickup from the Loans Desk. You will receive a message in myLINC and an email notification that the item is ready for pickup.

Other items that can be requested & reserved include items with the status


Note that items that have other status e.g. AVAILABLE, USE IN LIBRARY, VIEW IN LIBRARY, IN PRO-NO Hold cannot be reserved.


From the results page, click on the "Request it" link. Alternatively click on the "Request it" from the item page.


At the next page displayed, key in your matric/staff/membership number and PIN.


Then click "LOGIN". On the next screen, select the item you want to request and then click "Submit".



You will receive an email informing you the location to collect the item once it is ready for collection.
