Applying for NUS Library Borrowing Privileges: A Guide for Term Card Holders
Eligibility
- Applicants must hold a current NUS Term Card bearing their photo.
- Temp cards prefixed V or VP are not accepted, as they carry no photo.
How to Apply
- Applications are submitted online by the applicant's hosting department, institute, faculty, or school — not by the applicant themselves.
- Apply through the OEMA web app, using Chrome or Firefox.
- The system is offline for an upgrade from 25 August to 25 September 2026; email us for assistance during this period.
Costs
- A one-time, non-refundable fee of $5.45 (GST included) applies per applicant.
- The application must state who is paying this fee.
Scope of Privileges
- Borrowing privileges cover physical loans only.
- E-resource access requires a separate application, accompanied by an official letter of appointment stating the applicant's role and duration at NUS.
Departmental Responsibilities
- The hosting department is liable for any outstanding library fines if the Term Card holder leaves NUS without settling them.
- The hosting department must notify NUS Libraries at least one week before the Term Card holder's departure.
Approval
- Applications are assessed individually; approval is not guaranteed.
